My approach to working with ADHD involves working from several directions to address the important sides of ADHD challenges. The practical difficulties of ADHD with the functions of organization, focus and prioritization respond especially well to practical cognitive behavioral interventions that involve in-session and between session exercises. I also offer the option of treating ADHD with Synaesthetic Surround, a technique I have researched and developed involving brainwave modultion through light and sound. These techniques have shown to be particularly effective for ADHD and when combined with cognitive behavioral techniques have been successful in increasing mental clarity, focus, organization and follow-through.
The common emotional challenges accompanying ADHD also need to be directly addressed in their own right through the processing and reduction of feelings of inadequecy, shame and pretending/hiding that most ADHD sufferers experience. A prinicipal effect of this work is a deeper acceptance of self and a positive persepective toward self and life that is often so difficult for ADHD sufferers to achieve. The anxiety and pain that often accompany ADHD can be reduced through these emotional techniques to help clients go beyond improved functionality to a vibrant, thriving experience of life.

A testimonial from a client:
“Dr. Bresnick is a remarkable therapist who uses creative contemporary methods in his counseling. He is attentive and astute in all his sessions. His office space feels cozy and warm, and is an ideal space for therapy. He is also pioneering the use of light and sound’s effect of brain waves in therapy. The lucidity of my thoughts, my ability to feel optimistic, and my ability to think creatively have all improved with his help. The light and sound therapy has also eliminated my ADHD.”
